How many words is a bad picture worth?

Let's just say that we spent more time enjoying the day than on our picture-taking skills...

It was a beautiful day, weather-wise -- not too hot, blue skies, fluffy clouds -- all that great stuff. After a leisurely morning at the lake cabin (including breakfast, newspapers and online gossip columns) Rob, Leah and I took off for Middlebury, VT because the bean needed her first Vermont experience (as it's the famous state of my birth). We had a lovely drive there and a wonderfully relaxing lunch over whatever river flows through the town. (Being born there apparently does not make me an expert on the place.) The glamour shot here shows the pedestrian walkway over said river. It also shows the bright sun's effect on our eyes.

Anyway. With the sleeping child in her sling, we stopped in a used bookstore + a few other shops and then tried (and sadly, failed) to find Ben & Jerry's. So we settled for some cold treats at a general store before heading back to the lake. A fine time was had by all and now we can settle in for our last full day here before heading back to the grim realities of the working world.

What a wonderful way to spend a summer's afternoon - in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Would that be Woody's on the Otter Creek where you enjoyed lunch. Any chance you had the maple flavored sausage? Next year - when little Leah is walking on her own - you must show her the falls on the Otter from the rusted footbridge - below the Frog Hollow shops. Maybe Granddad can join you and treat you to ice cream at Ben & Jerry's on Park Street near the Middlebury Inn. We could also show Leah the outrageous Holstein cows cut-outs at the Woody Jackson Gallery. They will make her smile. (Cows always made her Mom smile.) What a wonderful way to spend a summer's afternoon.

I can't tell you how much I love all the updates! The lake pictures are wonderful. Such a great photo of Dale and Leah "talking". What fun for Rob, Dale and Bob to see little Leah enjoying the lake just like Rob did at that young age! I love Leah's two-piece! Looks like you had ideal weather. Best of all from my vantage point, is feeling like I'm in the "Leah loop", watching her early experiences with you, Rob and other VIP's in her life. Thanks!

Yes, Dad - that was the place we had lunch, but now it's called Tully & Marie's! For the most part it seemed like the same place, though not as busy as I remember it to be.
