16-week update

All the loud fist-sucking has finally paid off: Leah has found her thumb! Unfortunately there are no glamour shots of this momentous event, but there are some other pictures from yesterday that I'll slap up after I get home from work.

Other new developments:
  • Grabbing + shoving things (usually her butterfly toy or a blanket) into her mouth.
  • Finding + holding her feet (though I still suspect she isn't aware that they're her feet).
  • Real laughs. She's been giggling for a while now, but they've morphed into a much heartier version of that initial giggle. They happen mostly when we change her clothes (?) and when we're playing airplane.
  • She's much more social now. She's so much more observant, and really "talks" to us (or whatever exciting thing has her attention). And she's an attention whore. It is no longer acceptable to let her play on her own for very long. There must be interaction with an actual person (usually me, as Amelia is not quite up on her conversation skills during the day)!
  • She's starting to pay attention to the pages of the books we read to her.
There are probably other things, but I can't remember what they are at the moment. Oh - she definitely recognizes her babysitter, Xenia. When she came in this morning, Leah squealed. I love it!
