Mom in the City

Well, I survived my first day back in the office. I handed off the bean in the morning and heard her cooing at Xenia on her changing table as I walked out the door. Being back in the office wasn't so bad, I thought. In fact, it was nice to see everyone and feel like a competent, productive adult once again.

It turns out productivity is overrated. I lasted all of 3 hours before I called in the reinforcements - in the form of lunch at Mandoo with Rob. We had a lovely meal of Korean dumplings while I fretted over things such as whether or not I had shown Xenia where to find Leah's sunhat. By the end of lunch, Rob had gently steered me back in the direction of sanity and I felt ready to get back to work.

I slogged through the rest of my day, and then finally, we were home! I couldn't believe how much I missed her. Xenia reported that she was very very good and we said goodbye until next week.

I feel so lucky to stay home with her today!

Thanks, Biff! But we must give much of the credit to coffee + the editing tools [such as the very handy DELETE and BACKSPACE keys] on my computer.

You look like a young working girl ingenue in these pictures! Are you actually getting-gasp-sleep? I know what you mean, though: a day of work makes me suddenly so grateful to go back to the boring, unrenovated, unstimulating playground for the 12,897th time!

You truly are blessed with this genial child. You seem to have already joined the sane parents' club!
